Liga MB Round 3 of Regular Season- October 2, 2021
It's still too early stage of the Regular Season in Liga MB, but even now we can clearly see the differece between stronger teams and outsiders. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.
Cojute - Aguila 68-90 The game with biggest result difference took place in Cojutepeque. Local Cojute (0-3) was outscored by Aguila (2-0) 90-68. Aguila players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. It was a good game for Lee Vasquez (176-91) who led his team to a victory with 24 points and 5 assists. Guatemalan Jose Barahona (189-99) contributed with 15 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Four Aguila players scored in double figures. American swingman Zekiah Owens (197-98, college: AIC) answered with a double-double by scoring 26 points, 14 rebounds and 7 assists and American guard Chris Moten (190-89, college: LA Pierce JC) added 17 points in the effort for Cojute. Aguila will play against Santa Ana (#4) at home in the next round. Cojute will have a break next round. They outrebounded Fantasmas 52-35 including 19 on the offensive glass. The best player for the winners was center Carlos Arias (200-89) who had a double-double by scoring 26 points and 16 rebounds. American forward Arsenio Arrington (206-96, college: Aquinas Coll.) chipped in a double-double by scoring 13 points and 13 rebounds. Four Santa Tecla players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Randy Bell (193-98, college: Dalton St.) who recorded a double-double by scoring 24 points and 11 rebounds and the other American import guard Sameen Swint (193, college: GBC) added 28 points respectively. Fantasmas will play next round against strong San Salvador trying to get back on the winning streak. Santa Tecla will try to continue on its current victory against El Rapido in La Union. Santiagueno dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Chalchuapa's 20. They outrebounded Chalchuapa 40-28 including a 32-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Santiagueno especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 53.3 percentage. It was a good game for American Xavier Eaglin (201-97, college: PVAMU) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 14 rebounds. His fellow American import guard EJ Blackwell (193, college: Lourdes) contributed with a double-double by scoring 31 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Eaglin is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Santiagueno players scored in double figures. Mario Gonzalez (183-94) answered with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists and Marlon Viana added 16 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Chalchuapa. Chalchuapa's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Santiagueno will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Chalchuapa will play again against Santiagueno (#6) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
